Enrichment Programs

5th Grade Party

To celebrate the passage of our fifth-graders to middle school, a pool party follows of Fifth Grade Celebration Ceremony on the last day of school for the year.  Students will be bringing home detailed information in May!

Banking

Students have the opportunity to participate in Banking Day every week.  Interested students open a bank account and make weekly deposits.  The bank provides students with statements of their accounts the following Friday.  Help your child begin developing good financial management skills by participating in this weekly program!

Cultural Arts

Various performing arts programs from the city of Houston educate and enrich our students’ aesthetic development with everything from opera to international folk performances supplementing our school’s fine arts program.

Extreme Science

Volunteers assist with hands-on science experiments for fourth and fifth graders. Labs are held every two weeks. Training is provided.

International Week

Students participate in interactive presentations on the cultures, folklore, and languages of a variety of different countries around the world.

Mentoring

Tutors work on basic skills in reading, writing and math with their student. This program is open to third, fourth and fifth graders selected by the principal. It is a 30-45 minute commitment per week per student. Tutors may have more than one student.

Red Ribbon Week

Students participate in tobacco, alcohol, and drug awareness and resistance educational activities throughout the last week of October.

Reflections

The Reflections Contest is a cultural arts program sponsored by the National P.T.A. Based on a given theme each year, it allows children from Pre-K through high school to express themselves in one or more of the four program categories: literature, visual arts, photography, and music.

Skate Day

Several times a year, Nottingham students are invited to get together for an afternoon of fun at the Dairy Ashford Roller Rink! The rink is reserved for Nottingham students ONLY and children from all grade levels meet there for inline and regular skating with all their friends.

Splash Day

Our annual family evening of food and water fun is held in the late spring of each year.  Watch for flyers with details and join us at the pool for a great dinner.

Fundraisers

Back to School Dinner

The first General PTA meeting of the school year starts with a Back-to-School Dinner sponsored by a local restaurant.  The food is always delicious and the dinner is a great way to kick off the new year!

Birthday Marquee (South Side)

Wish your child a Happy Birthday!  Have your child’s name and birthday listed on the school marquee in front of the school on the big day.  This fundraiser goes on year around, but sign up early to reserve your slot.

Scholastic Book Fair

This is an excellent opportunity for students and parents to shop for great books at low prices right in our school library. Grandparent's Day is scheduled during Book Fair Week so that books may be purchased for that special little one!

Coupon Books

Sally Foster Entertainment Books go home with students during the first few weeks of school.  Loaded with coupons for local stores, restaurants, and gaming places, these books are invaluable for the busy family.

Directory

The school directory is more of a school service than a fundraiser.  A nominal fee is charged to cover printing expenses but all data collection and preparation is handled on a volunteer basis.

Gift Wrap

Sally Foster Gift Wrap sales are a big hit with parents, grandparents and children every year. Catalogues are filled with shiny paper, yummy treats and a variety of gifts to cover everyone on your list!

Running for the Arts

An annual fun run is held every year to support the fine arts programs in place in SBISD.  A great chance to exercise with your children and make a difference in their education!

T-Shirts

Nottingham t-shirts sport a new look every year.  Children are encouraged to wear their shirts every Friday to show their school spirit!

Yearbook Publication

Nottingham's Yearbooks are quality publications depicting the special events occurring during the school year!  Because of their high quality, all interested parents are invited to assist in its creation.

Yearbook Sales

Limited numbers of copies are printed and books must be pre-ordered before Dec. 10th.  After this date, the few additional copies will be on a first come-first served basis.  A very popular item, yearbook sales and distribution can always use additional woman/man-power!

Services

Beautification

Help keep our campus beautiful!  The Beautification team weeds the gardens, trims the plants, adds new ones and works with the school’s maintenance team to keep the landscape "lookin’ good for our neighborhood!"

Our P.T.A. newsletter, the Nottingham Shield, is published once a month and sent home in backpacks with detailed information on upcoming PTA-sponsored events and programs.

VIPS

An annual coffee is held the first day of school for all parents who are interested in volunteering at our school.  The required Volunteer Registration Forms must be completed online at the SBISD home page by all interested parents and once clearance is received, the prospective volunteer will be contacted by phone and letter to begin their important volunteer work at our school.  Volunteers are treated to an informal informational meeting about all the different volunteer opportunities available at Nottingham.

Volunteer Coordinator

The Volunteer Coordinator works closely with the Assistant Principal in meeting district requirements for the Parent Volunteer Program.  This coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all interested parents have a cleared volunteer registration form on file with the school’s assistant principal and notifying parents as to when they may begin work on campus.
