Nottingham's
teaching staff utilizes a number of progressive, research-based
instructional initiatives to meet the varied learning needs of all
students. Our staff integrates these various strategies in order
to address the interrelated processes of memory, emotion, and
learning styles. For an overview of each instructional initiative,
please contact your child's teacher.
-
Guided Reading Process
- Students meet with the teacher at the Teacher Table in
small groups several times a week working at the child's
individual instructional reading level.
-
Math
Groups - Teachers meet with students to reteach
individual math concepts that are not yet mastered during the
week.
-
Differentiation - A term that is used to simply
indicate that all student's needs are being planned for and
addressed by their teacher during the school week. Students who
are ready for more challenging work with a particular objective
are assigned alternative learning activities to broaden and
deepen their understanding and application of the concept in
math and language arts.
