The following guidelines for dress have been adopted by our
district and campus.
1.
Clothing should be neat and clean.
2.
Shoes or sandals must be worn. All
students in grades K-5 are required to wear tennis shoes for
participation in health fitness classes. All other shoes, regardless
of rubber soles or leather tops (saddle oxfords, deck shoes, topsiders,
etc.) are not considered safe for health fitness activities.
3.
The district prohibits any clothing
or grooming that, in the principal's judgment, may cause disruption of or
interference with normal school activities.
4.
Clothing may not be worn if it
displays (written or pictured) obscene and/or distasteful slogans or
advertises tobacco, alcoholic beverages, drugs, or "gang
insignias".
5.
Shorts worn by boys or girls should
be at least fingertip length. Please be sure to check the
length of shorts worn in the spring that were originally worn earlier at the
beginning of the year. Often our fifth-graders have out-grown the
appropriate length by the spring. Bicycle shorts or midriff tops are not
appropriate school wear and we discourage our students from wearing these
items to school. In addition, we suggest that you consider having your
child wear shorts under skirts worn to school, especially for
participation in fitness activities.
6.
Pants MUST be worn above the hipbone
with a belt if needed. Caps, bandannas, and colored beads may not be worn
on campus.
