State law requires that students be present 90% of the year to be
promoted. In accordance with this law, any student not in attendance for a
minimum of 90% of the year may be considered for assignment to an
"alternative learning activity" in addition to completing
make-up assignments. The attendance committee (principal, counselor and
teacher) is responsible for this decision.
Please Remember: School begins promptly at 8:05.
It is very important that your child comes to school every day and on
time. A student is considered tardy after 8:05 a.m. Students entering
the instructional area after that time disrupt other students and miss
out on important morning procedures and instructions. We are required to
report excessive absences, which may result in the intervention of the
district's attendance officer.
To have absences/tardies considered excused, the following must be
provided by the parent/ guardian:
1.
Date(s) of tardiness/absence
2.
Cause of tardiness/absence
3.
Signature of parent/guardian
4.
The student must submit a note to the
principal on the day of his/her return to school. If a note is not
received within three days of the student's return, the absence must be
recorded as unexcused.
Reasons for excused absences may include the observance of a
religious holy day, including traveling for that purpose. However, there
must be a written request for the excused absence submitted to the principal
by the parent prior to the absence.
A note from a doctor, dentist, or other health care professional
will excuse any absence for part of a day if the student begins class or
returns to school on the same day of the appointment.
ANY STUDENT LEAVING SCHOOL MUST BE CHECKED OUT THROUGH THE OFFICE.
Office personnel will call the classroom for any child being picked up.
Parents or other adults should not bypass the office, as teachers will
not be able to release the student without prior notification from the
front office. We appreciate your cooperation with this policy, which is
intended to ensure the safety of your child.
